THE CONNORS, AN AWARD-WINNING MOTHER AND
DAUGHTER DUO FROM SUTTON, WV have been setting the standard for
country and southern gospel music for many years. It all began
when Carolyn's parents, Rev Bud and Nettie Groves, dedicated her
back to God just like Hannah did Samuel. God's plan for
Carolyn's musical career started very early when she made her
singing debut on a live radio program on WHKK in Akron, Ohio, at the
age of three. Many folks would come to see and hear "Little
Carolyn Groves" sing from memory, such songs as "Mansion over
The Hilltop" and "Keys to the Kingdom." Years later she
made her first recording in 1968 in Kingsport,
Tennessee.
With God's anointing Carolyn traveled
many years with her evangelistic family, The Groves Family Gospel
Singers, who toured regionally in the mid-eastern states and
recorded many albums, which are classic reflections of the early
days of southern gospel music. While continuing on with this
ministry through the years, Carolyn's God -given talent to sing had
really developed to make her voice very recognizable and a favorite
at all the churches and venues where they were called to
sing.
In 1973, Carolyn married Don
Connor from Clay County, West Virginia. They
continued singing, even known at one time as "The Pilots and
Carolyn" when they joined with a well-known quartet from
Summersville, WV. This was a great union during the time they
were together. One year later they were blessed with their
only child, Missy. She too began singing at an early age
and made her first recording at the age of five, "Missy sings Songs
From My Heart." On this record Missy Sings "Cowgirl for
Jesus", "Lord Remember My Mama" and "Thanks My Friends for Loving
Me."
Now the family was being booked as "The
Connor Family Singers" and now as "The Connors." This is one
of the few mother-daughter teams to come along in all genres of
music. Missy brings to the group a beautiful voice that
delivers sympathy and comfort to the hurting soul. She is as
beautiful inside as she is out. Missy and her husband ,
Philip, above all, hope to shine for Jesus and set an example to all
the young people they meet while on the road.
Carolyn writes most of the songs they
sing. Her song writing received great recognition in the early
1990's which led The Connors to a recording contract with Cedar Hill
Records and The Eddie Crook Company. The Connors released
seven recordings and three live videos from 1992 through 1999 while
on The Cedar Hill Label. In 2000, the Connors formed their own
recording label called "HeartChange Music" and recorded their
first independent project, God Gave His Best, produced by Ben Isaacs
and Jeff Tolbert. Also a first with this project was
Missy's daughter, Melissa Shawntell (better known as "Little Miss")
singing a special message to all the Connor fans. She made an
appearance at the age of one on their live video, "Sweetest Songs"
filmed in Kentucky.
One of their most recent
productions "Wave of Glory" reflects their love for God and
Country. It is dedicated to our verterans and
military. One of Carolyn's songs from this project "No
More Last Goodbyes" is a tribute to those who gave their lives on
September 11, 2001
The Connors perform at churches,
auditoriums, fairs and festivals all across the country. They
have appeared many times at the famous Smoky Mountain Jubilee in
Pigeon Forge, TN. They do TV specials and have shared the
stage with many well-know artists such as Martha Carson, Bill
Anderson, Ralph Stanley, George Hamilton IV, and hosts of gospel
music artists. The Connors can be seen on GMT, and other
national and local programming. They are being aired regularly
on Global Gospel Radio, worldwide.
Carolyn is now doing some concerts
solo. Missy is not able to travel full-time.
Carolyn's solo concerts is filled with variety and excitement.
From her opening song , to the Old-fashioned moment with the
autoharp, to a yodeling tune to take you back in time,
then to a heart-touching ballad, and finally to a
soul-searching finale, you will be glad you
came.
Carolyn has been joined recently
with a wonderful Choir from the Maysel Community Church who has been
performing several concerts with her. They are a wonderful
group of anointed people. The Connors desire is to carry
the message of JESUS "The Savior of the World" everywhere they
go. The Connors would like to thank all their precious family
and friends who support their ministry. May God shine HIS
great love down upon you. Thanks to all the DJ's who
play our music and the promoters and pastors who book us, MAY
GOD BLESS YOU. WE LOVE YOU
ALL..........
